PUTRAJAYA: Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook demanded on Monday that MYEG and Zetrix AI Berhad immediately remit RM314 million in government revenue, as their suspension as collection agents for the Road Transport Department (JPJ) took effect on Oct 5.

The money had been collected on the government's behalf and did not belong to the companies, Loke told a news conference at his ministry.

The outstanding amount covered collections from May 19 to Sept 30, 2026, that had not reached the ministry's main revenue collection account, according to his account.

Loke disputed reports suggesting that the RM314 million had accumulated over three years. The balance dated from May this year, he said; earlier instances of overdue payments had been resolved after reminders.

Reminders and an unprocessed cheque

The ministry and JPJ had issued 35 reminder notices and held four engagement sessions with stakeholders, including the Finance Ministry, in their efforts to recover the funds since May.

On Aug 21, the company submitted a cheque for RM231 million, dated Sept 30, to cover the arrears then outstanding. Loke said the bank did not process it when it was presented on that date because the company had instructed it not to do so.

The ministry and JPJ will pursue legal action to recover the full RM314 million.

Motorists can still transact

The suspension affects JPJ services provided through the MYEG and Zetrix channels. Motorists can continue using the MyJPJ app, the department's public portal, service counters, kiosks and other official platforms.

Loke also rejected political affiliations as a consideration in the decision. The issue, he said, was whether the companies had fulfilled their obligations to transfer government revenue.

No response from MYEG or Zetrix had been reported at the time of writing.
