KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court here has fixed Oct 14 to hear Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's application to stay the execution of his 15-year prison sentence and RM11.38 billion fine in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) case, pending the outcome of his appeal.
The date was set by Justice Noor Ruwena Md Nurdin yesterday, RTM reported.
"Written submissions may be filed at any time before Oct 14," the judge said.
Najib was represented by Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, while deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Mustaffa P Kunyalam appeared for the prosecution.
The court has not decided on the application. Only the hearing date has been fixed, and the sentence in the 1MDB case stands as imposed until the court rules.
The 1MDB sentence
On Dec 26, 2025, the High Court sentenced Najib to 15 years in prison and fined him RM11.38 billion after convicting him on four counts of abuse of power and 21 counts of money laundering involving RM2.3 billion in 1MDB funds.
According to the defence, that sentence will begin after Najib finishes serving his sentence in the SRC International case.
In the SRC International case, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, consented on Sept 18 to a conditional pardon allowing Najib to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028, subject to payment of a RM50 million fine.
