KOTA BHARU: Perikatan Nasional (PN) expects to submit its explanation to the Registrar of Societies (RoS) within two weeks, its secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said.
"We have up to 30 days, or a month. We are discussing the answers and explanations for RoS. Perhaps within two weeks we can settle this matter," he said, as reported by Utusan Malaysia.
He was speaking after opening the Karnival Cakna Rakyat for the Bunut Payong state constituency in Lembah Sireh here today.
Takiyuddin said PN had sent a letter to the RoS director-general yesterday requesting a meeting.
"So we hope that, as the agency regulating societies, when action is taken against an organisation, it will give us room to meet," he said.
PAS logo for the Melaka polls
On the Melaka state election, Takiyuddin said using the PAS logo was among the options should PN's suspension still be in force during the polls.
"This is among the options we have if PN remains suspended," he said, according to Malay Mail.
He pointed to the 2018 general election, when DAP, PKR and Bersatu candidates contested under the PKR logo.
PN remains registered. The RoS notice dated Sept 22 suspended all of the coalition's activities and gave it 30 days to explain itself, but did not cancel its registration.
Internal rift
The suspension stems from a complaint by Bersatu. Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali earlier claimed the PN leadership had breached the coalition's constitution by excluding Bersatu from the PN Supreme Council meeting on July 16.
That claim is Bersatu's position and forms part of the basis of its complaint to RoS. PN has said it disagrees with the basis of the registrar's action.
