BATU PAHAT: Police have detained three 16-year-old boys to assist in the investigation into the death of a schoolgirl who was found at a secondary school in Yong Peng on the afternoon of Saturday, Oct 3.

The boys attended the same school as the victim, who was also 16 and in Form Four. They were detained within hours of her being found.

RTM reported this morning that police were expected to bring one of the teenagers before the Batu Pahat Magistrates' Court to apply for a remand order to assist the investigation.

Further details of the arrests and the remand application have not been released, and no court decision or remand period has been announced.

The girl was found by her grandmother, who went to the school after the teenager failed to return home from extra classes.

Police and forensic teams then examined the scene to gather evidence and establish the circumstances of her death.

Johor deputy police chief Deputy Commissioner Hoo Chuan Huat said investigators were still establishing the facts and that it was too early to confirm the speculation circulating about the case.

No motive has been announced so far. The boys are being held to assist the investigation, and their detention does not establish guilt.
