KUALA LUMPUR: Four people were detained in a raid on a hangar at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang on Wednesday, as investigators pursued a case linked to the seizure of 521kg of methamphetamine from a private aircraft in Laos last week.
Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency Port Klang commander Datuk Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal confirmed the raid, which was carried out with several enforcement agencies including the Bukit Aman narcotics criminal investigation department.
The four were detained while preparing for a flight and were handed over to the narcotics department for further investigation, Bernama reported. Their identities and roles have not been disclosed.
On Oct 1, Laotian police seized 521kg of crystal methamphetamine from a private Learjet that had arrived from Subang. Authorities there also detained 13 people, including Malaysian, Singaporean and Filipino nationals, to assist in the investigation.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the four held in Subang were directly involved with the drugs seized in Laos. The cross-border investigation is ongoing.
